What is a Spinal Adjustment?

A chiropractic adjustment is a common therapeutic treatment for lower back pain. It is also known as chiropractic manipulation, manual manipulation, or spinal manipulation. A chiropractic adjustment refers to a chiropractor applying manipulation to the vertebrae that have abnormal movement patterns or fail to function normally.

The purpose of this chiropractic treatment is to reduce subluxation and improve function by increasing the range of motion and reducing nerve irritability.

Our chiropractors will work with you to find the most effective treatment for your condition.  We will increase your spinal motion with spinal manipulation and get the body’s physical function back on track. You are in the right spot if you want to learn more about chiropractic spinal adjustments. We have prepared a quick review of everything you need to know.

Why Do People Need Spinal Adjustments?

Other than back pain, adults are getting spinal manipulation for their overall wellness like:

  • To prevent disease and promote overall wellness
  • To restore spirit, body, and mind connection
  • To promote energy production
  • To amplify their immune system
  • To enhance concentration, focus, and memory

Many people who’ve tried chiropractic manipulation report a range of benefits, particularly improvement in pain. It’s commonly used to address back pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. Our expert chiropractors use gentle movements to realign the vertebrae and apply careful pressure to ease the discomfort and pain.

What happens during a chiropractic spinal adjustment?

Chiropractic spinal adjustments, also known as spinal manipulative therapy, are unique procedures that restore your range of motion. Our chiropractors will use a gentle instrument or their hands to add gentle and controlled force to a specific spinal joint at Active Family wellness.

This gentle thrust restores regular communication between the brain and the associated spinal nerve root. If, for example, you are suffering from spinal subluxations, which are misaligned or restricted joints in the spine, then chiropractic care can fix the discomfort and ache.

When the misalignment is left unmanaged, it will add pressure to the spinal nerves (peripheral nervous system) and reduce nerve signal function between the brain and body. Thus, Chiropractic spinal adjustments are a complementary health approach that can be useful for a range of different problems.

With every adjustment, there is little to no pain involved. You will feel cracks and pops, but it is normal to feel some mild or minor soreness post-treatment other than that. (Much like going to the gym)
